Welcome our New Principal!! My name is Jacob Balls (Mr. B) I am going to be the new principal at Mckinley Elementary. I am beyond excited to be able to work with you and your students for this upcoming school year. I have heard so many wonderful things about Mckinley and look forward to continuing to help students learn and grow. I grew up in Cache Valley, I attended USU but later transferred to Weber state. I started my teaching career at Kennedy Jr. High in West Valley teaching special education. After a couple of years I moved up to Box Elder Middle School where I continued to teach special education. I then got an assistant principal position at Bear River High School where I have worked the last 5 years. I have grown to love the community and love the students I have worked with. My family and I live in Brigham City. My wife and I have 4 kids, 2 boys and 2 girls. We enjoy spending time outdoors, hiking, fishing, hunting, biking and camping.

McKinley Families, It is that time of the school year that we begin to work on class lists. We will not be taking teacher requests again this year. If you have any concerns or information that you would like us to take into consideration while making these lists, there is a form that you can get in the office that you can fill out or you can use this link (https://forms.gle/Jn9sG9SBeuSjppKdA) to fill out a google form. We know every child has unique needs and personalities and we will do our best to make the most appropriate teacher placement for your child. Thank you, Mark Taylor, Principal, McKinley Elementary

Hello McKinley Families, I wanted to let you know that there was a lockdown at BRMS and BRHS this morning after dispatch received information about a potential threat. The police did not find any threats at either school and the lockdown was lifted. I was in contact with the police department as soon as I found out about the lockdown at the other schools and based on the information available they did not have McKinley go into lockdown. We appreciate how law enforcement handled this situation to ensure the safety of our students. Thank you, Mark Taylor, Principal, McKinley Elementary

McKinley Elementary Monday, September 26, 2022 Dear Parent or Guardian, We are going to kick off a new attendance reward plan at McKinley Elementary. We want to reward our students for their efforts to maintain good attendance. According to our plan all students who have “Almost Perfect Attendance” will receive a new bicycle at the end of the school year. Almost Perfect attendance means that a student can miss no more than one day of school and still get a bicycle. So, we are planning to give away lots of bikes. We are also going to reward students who have good attendance, but maybe miss a day or two more than one day. Students who attend consistently, but miss 2 to 5 days still have great attendance and will be entered into a drawing for cool prizes. Some of these prizes include a $50 gift certificate, a drone, a $25 gift certificate, and other fun prizes. Finally, all students who have no more than 8 absences for the year will get to attend a “Great Attendance Dance & Ice Cream Party” at the end of the school year. We will start counting attendance toward the contest on Monday,October 3rd. If your student has already missed days of school this year, no sweat. Everyone gets a fresh start on Monday. Best of luck! McKinley Almost Perfect Attendance Committee P.S. The Attendance Committee reserves the right to make decisions regarding the awarding of prizes in special or unusual circumstances. Excessive tardiness, early departures, or other events that cause students to miss a lot of school could impact a student receiving a prize. For questions please contact the school.
